We’re not people really.  Our concerns are not America’s concerns.  We are just here for entertainment. We’re a convenient treasure trove of limitless creativity to be pillaged, watered down, and re-purposed for White audiences and the people getting rich from bastardized stereotypes and simplified caricatures of everything we bring to the table have nothing to say when shit gets really real.

people literally cannot get out antonio french is telling him to knock on doors if he has to

police/military have placed a physical road blockade, a media blackout, and a nofly zone, over the neighborhood where mike brown was murdered were the only eye witnesses live, at the heart of the protests, under the guise of stopping a “gun battle btwn cops and gangs”. there is nothing come out of canfield right now that i can find, which is absolutely terrifying.

A silent protest in Love Park, downtown Philadelphia orchestrated by performance artists protesting the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson. The onslaught of passerby’s  wanting to take photos with the statue exemplifies the disconnect in American society.  Simply frame out the dead body, and it doesn’t exist.

Here are some observations by one of the artists involved in the event:

I don’t know who any of these folks are.

They were tourists I presume.

But I heard most of what everything they said. A few lines in particular stood out. There’s one guy not featured in the photos. His friends were trying to get him to join the picture but he couldn’t take his eyes off the body.

"Something about this doesn’t feel right. I’m going to sit this one out, guys." "Com’on man… he’s already dead."

(Laughs.)

There were a billion little quips I heard today. Some broke my heart. Some restored my faith in humanity. There was an older white couple who wanted to take a picture under the statue.

The older gentleman: “Why do they have to always have to shove their politics down our throats.” Older woman: “They’re black kids, honey. They don’t have anything better to do.”

One woman even stepped over the body to get her picture. But as luck would have it the wind blew the caution tape and it got tangle around her foot. She had to stop and take the tape off. She still took her photo.

There was a guy who yelled at us… “We need more dead like them. Yay for the white man!”

"One young guy just cried and then gave me a hug and said ‘thank you. It’s nice to know SOMEBODY sees me.’

Meanwhile, at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, Mo’ne Davis — one of only two girls in the tournament — struck out eight batters in a two-hit shutout, leading Philadelphia over Nashville, 4-0.  Mo’ne, who has thrown as fast as 70mph, threw all of 70 pitches in her complete game.  Which should mean anyone who still says “You throw like a girl!” can shut the fuck up now.  (Photo: Gene Puskar / AP via the New York Daily News)

The NYPD killed more civilians in a span of 3 months than all of Germany’s police killed in a year.
84 shots were fired at one murder suspect in Harlem, another 90 shots at one fleeing unarmed man in Los Angeles. And that was just April.
More civilians are killed by America’s police force than soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. There’s a war on American soil and we’re to blind to see it.
Thanks Germany for giving us some perspective.

Free Texas Black Man Still Locked Up After 34 Years

“There is no evidence that Hartfield has suffered any anxiety relating to his pretrial detention."

“There is no evidence that Hartfield has suffered any anxiety relating to his pretrial detention.”

Is it alright for a man to languish in jail for 34 years without being convicted? Clearly the answer is “no.” We all have the right to a speedy trial. Correct? Unfortunately that is wrong – at least for Jerry Hartfield. Only in Texas. And only to a black man.

Last week a state judge ruled that even…
