“I would hope very much, Madame President, that the super committee will do nothing more than listen to the American people. That’s all. And if you do that then you’re going to do the right thing. Don’t cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. Ask the wealthiest people in this country to start paying their fair share of taxes. Do away with these outrageous loopholes that large, profitable corporations enjoy. You do that and we can in fact come up with an agreement that will help us reduce the deficit and will win the support Democrats, Republicans, Independents.”
